There has been quite a gap between now and my last blog post - but in that gap there has been a monumentally joyous occasion in the VaughanMiller family. Our youngest, Paul, got married! And this post is all about that occasion!
Pre-wedding... It just so happened that early in the week of the wedding, after most of the Vaughan & Miller family had arrived in Colorado, Kendall's brother Andy had a birthday and came to town to celebrate with his siblings!
Our hosts for the Andy birthday gathering: Kendall's brother Steve, his wife (our sister-in-law) Kitty, and their older daughter Tara |
Andy, at the ready to do some candle blowing Holding the many cakes: Sasha, Cheryl, and Kendall |
Cousins - John and Paula - enjoying each other's company |
Then came time for the Wedding Rehearsal. Gulp!
The Welcome sign table (Jen/Paul painting creativity on wood) |
Wooden signs: Paul & Jen April 29, 2023 photos of Paul & Jen on wood, and No Admittance except on party business sign |
The Mr & Mrs table with photos on wood, and a happy pair of gnomes |
This wedding stuff is a really really big deal
...time for one more mother-son hug |
After passing through that beautiful entrance, the participants had to get down to the serious business of rehearsing. That included:
Flower girls and their baskets (baskets from my folks' Basket Shop!) |
Dog (ring-bearers) wranglers Paul's cousin Amber with Barley & Jen's sister Kristen with Yuki |
Jen's grandma, the pianist extraordinaire |
As the rehearsal progressed:
Jen had a word with her dad |
Paul had a word with Barley |
And Reverend Jacqueline had words for everyone |
Of course, after rehearsal comes rehearsal dinner!
The stars of the show arrive! |
The moms commiserate - Paul eavesdrops attentively |
The requisite rehearsal of feeding each other cake |
The Big Day Arrives
But first! There are a few to-do items to attend to!
Taz, Barley & Yuki - dogs must be walked! |
Our walking venue - a field right by the church It is a gorgeous day. |
Back on the homefront: A dozen or so loaves of bread thawing for the day-after gathering And, most importantly, the To-Do List. Is everything checked? Yikes! |
Weddings, apparently, involve a lot of last-minute getting ready activity!
The Bride and Groom arrive - hidden from each other, of course!
Paul, tucked away in secret hiding place |

Bride, groom and parents - all smiles |
Nothing left to do but party!
I do believe the very best thing about this wedding reception was the happiness of all the family and friends who were gathered together in one great big celebration. It was fantastic!
We're here! Let's party! |
And no party is complete without gnomes! Handmade by Jen & her mom A pair for every table for folks to take home! |
Ahhh... the dancing!
Traditional bride & groom dance (God Bless The Broken Road) |
Traditional father-daughter dance (Butterfly Kisses) |
Not quite as traditional mother-daughter dance (Mother Like Mine) |
Then all the moms & daughters had a whooping good dance! |
Mother-son dance (We are family) The goal was to get everyone up on their feet & dancing! |
...and dance we did!
And then there was CAKE!
But better than dancing, better than cake: family and friends...
Speaking from Paul's side of the family, thank you to all the Millers who came to town for this grand event:
Almost all of Paul's cousins were able to join in the celebration!
And speaking from the Vaughan side of the family - a huge thank you to our cousin John whose photographs of Paul and Jennifer's wedding will be cherished forever, just as my brother and I cherish our Vaughan-Murphey family.
David Lee Vaughan, Paula Vaughan, Sasha VaughanMiller, & John Murphey |
When you put all the Flock and VaughanMiller folks together - WOW!
...oh so goofy, oh so wonderful family & friends
Congratulations Paul & Jennifer VaughanMiller!
