Mid-Summer Version Of Cross-training

Summer and all of its bounty is upon us after a spring consumed by a broken wrist - offering up an excellent cross-training opportunity: yard work! Woohoo!

The day started with a light Taz run. Seeing as how he achieves the 14-year-old milestone this month, he has developed a very leisurely pace. That's A-OK with me being well past my spring chicken days. The run alongside our yard on the way to the back gate reminded me - once again - that our yard needs a heavy dose of attention. On with the gardening hat and shoes for some very sweaty weed digging and pulling, enough to get a hefty load into our compost bin.

The third cross of the day's cross-training was walking - in high 90s heat. I do believe I have set a pjv record for sweating this summer. Uff da! First walk was a meander home from the Vet's where we dropped Taz off. The second walk was after we picked Taz up from the Vet's with the thermometer reading 98. Thus I rode part way home with Taz and Kendall and hopped out near to where I could find shade and a creek to walk alongside on the rest of the way home. Now, as evening is upon us, the temperature has dipped down to 90; time for a third walk! Taz, however, says "No thanks! I'm good just hanging out on this nice cool floor!"
